DICIEMBRE

Hola.

Ayyyy socorro!!! I cannot believe that it is already December! I love this time of year because we are really able to focus on the Lord and on His amazing birth and life. Did you guys get to see the Christmas devotional from last night? I hope you did, and if you didn't, you should look it up and watch it online. It's worth it! I promise.

I loved loved Elder Christofferson's talk. I love that he said Jesus Christ was sent here to do the will of the Father. He was a perfect son and was able to fulfill His mission perfectly. The greatest act ever performed was The Atonement of Jesus Christ. I love that Elder Christofferson said that we are also sent here to earth to do the will of the Father, but unlike Jesus Christ we are not perfect. We will mess up and make mistakes and do things we shouldn't and fall short continually, but because of the Atonement we can rise again! And in order to ascend above all things we must occasionally descend below some. We need to learn obedience and humility while we are here! I know that is true. I know that through Jesus Christ and His atoning sacrifice we all have the ability to rise triumphantly, but we need to do our part.

On my mission we always invite people to do 3 things. Read the scriptures daily, Pray daily, and Attend church every week. We PROMISE them as representatives of The Lord, Jesus Christ, that if they will do those 3 things they will gain a testimony and receive blessings from Heavenly Father. I promise all of you that same thing and I would earnestly exhort you with all my heart to do them. Please please read, pray, and attend church. You WILL see blessings in your life. You will feel your love for God and man grow. You will understand things more clearly and lead a better life.

I don't have a lot of time today, but I want you guys to know that we are doing really extremely well. Our Spanish district is leading the whole mission right now!! Shout out to De Anza! Hermana Castrillon and I have 8 people on date to be baptized this month (ahhhhh!!). Please keep them in your prayers: Miriam, Jocelyn, Peter, Gonzalo, Angel, Itzel, Yareth, and Jaylene!! We also have been praying sooo hard lately to be able to find families to teach. And this week we found 6. That's right. We didn't have any luck with families before, but we decided to strive even harder to be EXACTLY obedient, and Heavenly Father blessed us with 6 amazing families to teach!! We love this work and know that "obedience is the first law of heaven"!!!

Thank you for everything!! At this Christmas time, Christ was the best gift that has ever been given. He was given by a perfect Father in Heaven to all His Children! Check out the video the church has put out, "He is the Gift". It's on youtube. Also, share it on facebook, twitter, instagram, and all other social media sites! #ShareTheGift. Remember that the best presents that you can give this Christmas are:
1. Time
2. Love
3. Listening
4. Remembering    annnnd
5. Sharing (especially your testimony)

Con Amor,
Hermana Rutherford

PS. Just a cool story. Hermana Castrillon and I went out to pick up some lunch in between lessons the other day and we decided to go to Chipotle. We were standing in line and a little boy ran up to us and handed us a card and said "Merry Christmas" then ran away! We were confused but said thanks. After examining the card we realized it was a gift card!! We were so taken aback. We got to the cash register and there was $20 on it! Enough to pay for our whole meals and some left over. It was wonderful. Tender mercies. I'm telling you, exact obedience pays off! Pun intended.
